The historic Coliseum Ballroom boasts a 10,000 square foot dance floor, large enough to house more than just antiques. At the Coliseum, you find anything from large antique furniture to collectible salt and pepper shakers and figurines, and even Avon, Wadkins products, sport jerseys and Route 66 memorabilia. Just 4 miles west of Interstate 55 between Springfield, Illinois and St. Louis, Missouri, take exit 44 off I – 55 to Benld, left at Rout 4 and just 3 blocks on the right.
If shopping isn’t your fancy, you may simply tour the historic Coliseum Ballroom on historic Route 66. Built in 1923 by Dominic Tarro, this enormous façade opened to such orchestras of Tommy Dorsey and Duke Ellington and others well known to later nationally known Fats Domino, Johnny Rivers, Ray Charles, Ike & Tina Turner and more. It has also been said that Al Capone was one of its earliest guests.
